News Report Writing:

Report Writing is information about event that has recently happened. It is first-hand information of what one has observed, heard, done or investigated.



Tips for News Report Writing:
  1. · Read the topic and visualize the event.
  2. · Give a catchy title/heading; provide the date and the place in the beginning.
  3. · Use past tense and reported speech.
  4. · Report exactly as it happened and what you observed.
  5. · Mention at the end who reported the article.
  6. · A good report answers ‘who’, ‘when’, ‘what’, ‘why’, ‘how’ related to the subject.

1. Prepare a news report on the following headline:

Amalner, 15th Sep, 2019: About 50 students of Std XA from New English High School, Amalner, along with 5 of their teachers, went to the nearby locality, and contacted about 25 adult illiterate men and 6 women from the slums, and planned a Programme to educate them. According to their syllabus, they planned to teach them the alphabet in English and Marathi, reading and writing, numbers 1 to 100, addition and subtraction, and environmental studies related to health and hygiene, The method adopted to teach the above mentioned syllabus was through skits, Audio-Video Educational Clips, Personal teaching and storytelling.
At first, they had only 31 adults, but later on, impressed by the interesting manner of teaching the team attracted a total number of 46 people. The students find it extremely rewarding to see the number of adult literates on the rise.


2. Knowing the importance of teeth, you school had organized a dental check-up camp. Prepare a news report for your school magazine based on the following headline.

Dental Check Up Camp at our school

Dombivli, 15th Feb,2019:  The dental camp was organized at our school yesterday. It was a great success. Around 500 students from the primary section had been checked by a panel of four dentist. The camp started with a speech given by Dr. Kimaya Shere, one of the doctors present. She explained the students about the healthy eating habits  and oral care. She elaborated that our teeth are an important part of our health and personality and should be kept bright white. She tried to discourage the students from eating sweets and chocolates, which is bad for the teeth. Then our headmistress thanked a panel of doctors and assured to have regular check-up camps at our school. All students realized the importance of dental care.
